This week on Jackalope Tales, we dive face-first into the chaos of two music festivals that went completely off the rails—in the best possible way.
Lisa takes us back to Lollapalooza ’92, when the Jim Rose Circus was turning stomachs and pushing limits. We’re talking human blockheads, electric nipples, and a backstage challenge between Chris Cornell, Eddie Vedder, and Al Jourgensen involving a beverage so foul it makes Malört look classy: bile beer—a fermented monstrosity brewed with love (and actual bile) by one of Jim Rose’s sideshow sadists.
Then Charles heads to the rainy streets of Seattle for a punk-infused legend from Bumbershoot. Rumor has it The Ramones weren’t impressed with the event’s flower-child security vibes and may have “gently suggested” that the city bring in the Hells Angels to give the festival a proper edge. Did Bumbershoot accidentally become a biker bar with funnel cake? You be the judge.
Freaky drinks, punk diplomacy, and a whole lot of questionable decisions—this one’s got it all. [EP 90]
