Maria Lawton, creator and host of the TV Show Maria’s Portuguese Table, grew up in a home in Massachusetts where only Portuguese was spoken. She tells me about cooking using the sense of smell, accosting strangers in the supermarket and sharing recipes on the factory floor. She also tells me her inspiring story about how she got closure on her mother’s death by unearthing the traditional Portuguese recipes she and her grandmother used to make.
