Today, March 4th, 2015 marks the city of Chicago’s 178th birthday.  But, more importantly, this day also marks 26th anniversary of Debbie Gibson’s #1 single “Lost in Your Eyes”, her second chart-topper following 1987’s “Foolish Beat”, the song that made her the youngest artist ever to write, perform and produce a #1 record at the tender age of seventeen.

When “Lost in Your Eyes” reached #1, it elevated Gibson to another benchmark: the first female artist to have both an album (Electric Youth) and single simultaneously at #1. Yes, that’s right; not even Diana Ross & the Supremes, Madonna or the recently deceased great Lesley Gore had reached such rarified air.
